Dr. Carl Wolf was a remarkable teacher and mentor to me during my fellowship in Transfusion Medicine at the New York Blood Center and in Pediatric Hematology at New York Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May all have peace.

On behalf of the New York Firefighters Skin Bank at New York Presbyterian Hospital I extend my condolences to Dr Wolf's family and friends. I first met Dr. Wolf as a critical care nurse on the burn center. I was remarked by his care and vigilance in the stabilization of these patients. I had the opportunity to work with him again while I was in the department of epidemiology. His management coupled with academics and no pretense personality awed me. When I began as a director of the skin bank my first call was Dr Wolf for direction and help. He was so generous with his time his knowledge and experience I was so grateful and of course more confident. Of course he was the first appointment to the Skin Banks Medical Advisory Board. After his retirement I was so happy running into him and at times would still call him for advice. He is such a part of my professional history I enjoyed his humor and endlessly respected him. On behalf of the Blood Bank at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center: We are very saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Wolf. He made many significant contributions to our hospital, our blood bank and the Transfusion Medicine profession. He will be fondly remembered for all his accomplishments, his intellect, and his unwavering dedication to the patients at New York Hospital. I am personally grateful to Dr. Wolf for the time and effort he took to mentor me at the beginning of my career.

In this time of grief may you know the comfort of our loving God.. Carl was a great neighbor and friend of ours in New Hyde Park.We have truly missed his smiling face and seeing him enjoying his puttering in the garden caring for his trees and flowers.
