Dear Dad,
You have always put your family first and have done so much for all of us. You took me on fishing trips, you brought me to play at my first soccer game, you bought my first guitar, you took us on vacations, and you helped support me in my love of cooking and becoming a Chef by connecting me with my first restaurant job at Murph’s in Franklin Square, and then later supporting me to go to culinary school. I enjoyed helping you do whatever it was around the house because I wanted to be like you some day. Dad, I miss you already. You were such an important part of our family. I always felt safe and loved having you as a father. You were always there for all the special moments of our lives. Tom has the. greatest respect for you as you always treated him more like a son than a son-in-law. When our children came along, you & Mom became very important in their lives also. We have such great memories of holidays and other fun times. When someone needed help you were always there with no question. You were so brave when we lost Mom, getting on with your life and never forgetting a birthday or holiday and always saying “I love you”. You were always such a big support in every way when I was diagnosed. I know the last two years were not easy for you. You had to give up a lot of things and had to have 24 hr. caregivers, including Mary & John, my wonderful sister and her husband, to help you through the day. I never heard you complain and you were always so cheerful & upbeat every time I called you. I know you were well cared for and content to stay in your home along with your beloved pet, Tiger, who you treated as a dog! I know you are with Mom and we will remember you always with love. Dad this is how I want to remember you. So full of life! You’ve had a huge impact in all of our lives. You were always there for us and we could count on you to help us when we needed it. My last photos of you. I love you so much Dad. You have always been my rock. You also were the backbone of our entire family but never ever looked for credit. You gave and never asked for anything in return. You never looked for acknowledgment you were just happy to help. Always willing to help us out no matter what the situation was. I will write more when I can see through my tears. I love you and although these last 2 years have been so hard I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Mom is waiting for you. Hopefully it’s with open arms and not a rolling pin. Tiger your beloved cat will be safe this I promise you. Rest peacefully Daddy.
