Obituary of Michael J. Higgins

HIGGINS - Michael J., 81, of Garden City, NY formerly of Queens Village passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018. Born in Flushing, NY to the late James J. and Catherine Higgins.  Beloved husband to Mary Higgins (nee Dillon) for 59 years. Loving father of James (Jean), Eileen McAleese (John), Jeanne Evola (late Larry), and AnnMarie Walker (Michael).  Proud Pop to Michele Quinn (Steve), Justine McAleese, Meagan McBride (Kevin), Kellie Hughes (Michael), Jessica Walker, Marissa Evola, Michael Walker, Lauren Evola, KerriAnn Walker and 2 great grandchildren Declan and Reagan Quinn.  Survived by his siblings Mary McGrath (John), Catherine McNamara (Kevin), and John Higgins (Karen). A graduate of Fordham University receiving a Bachelor's degree and a Master’s in Social Work.  He worked at Downstate Medical Center for over 30 years leaving as the Director of Addictive Diseases.

Reposing at Krauss Funeral Home, 1097 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, NY 11010, Tuesday, October 23, 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday 10:00 A.M. at St Anne’s RC Church, 35 Dartmouth St., Garden City, NY. Burial following at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Flushing, NY.
