Obituary of Ann L Pizzi
Pizzi, Ann Loretta (nee McGlyn) , of West Hempstead at age 87. Beloved wife of Francis J. Pizzi. Entered peacefully into eternal rest on March 3, 2018. Ann was born on February 23, 1931 in Brooklyn to Grace Loretta Sullivan and James McGlyn. She attended St. Patrick's Grammar school and Graduated from Ft. Hamilton H.S. in 1948. Following her graduation Ann went to work for N.Y.Telephone Co. where she met her husband Frank. Ann and her sister Rita lost their parents at a young age, and were cared for by Gertrude Tasso for many years until Ann married. In 1953 Ann married her sweetheart Frank at St. Patrick's church in Brooklyn. She enjoyd her life in Bayridge, but when her family grew and needed more space, she moved to West Hempstead where she raised 5 children. She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle and volunteered to help at the grammar school when needed. She enjoyed Bowling and Fair-Oaks Club: But her children, grandchildren , great grandchildren remained her pride and joy throughout her life.
Ann also enjoyed traveling with Frank to Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina,But her favorite trip was to Ireland in 2003. She sat on a tour bus and took in all the green of Ireland by day and the pubs of Ireland at night.Her memory books and photos gave her great pleasure.
Ann enjoyed crocheting, Friday beauy parlor, dinners out with Frank, reading and keeping in touch with friends. When asked if she had any regrets, she replied, "None, except maybe losing my parents and leaving Bayridge, Brooklyn." Bayridge remained her favorite place to visit with family and friends throughout her life.
Ann is survived by her husband Francis J. Pizzi Sr. and their five children. Rita Holby and son-in-law Mark. Francis J. Pizzi Jr. ,his wife Margie, Stephen and his wife Ramona, Mary Borriello, Eileen D'Errico. ten grandchildren , Mary Elizabeth, Kristen, Peter, Michele,Christopher, Nicholas, Megan, Phillip, Bobby and Ryan. Five great grandchildren, a special Goddaughter Marion Graham and cousins Marianne Casey and Tom McGlyn. She leaves behind many friends from NY Telephone, St Thomas the Apostle parish, Shackleton's Restaurant ( Now called Trotters). She will be missed by one and all.
