Obituary of Roland C Berotte
Roland C. Berotte, age 65, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. He was born in October 1952 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Leonce C. and Nadia Berotte. He emigrated to the US with his family and attended St. Teresa of Avila School, Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Brooklyn College. Roland went on to a career in law enforcement with the Nassau County Police Department and served in various capacities including: Officer, Police Academy Instructor, Highway Patrol – Motorcycle Division - and retired as a highly decorated Detective. Roland served in the US Army and was promoted several times commensurately earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Iraq and Afghanistan and earned the Bronze Star for his valiant service. To honor his legacy, Roland is survived by his son Leonce, grandson Anthony, mother Nadia, sisters Carole, Yolene, Marie-Jose and Miriam, Brother-in-laws Benigno and Carl, a host of nieces and nephews, and friends and colleagues whom he touched with his generous and loving spirit. He is predeceased by his father, Leonce and brothers-in-law Gerard and Andre. Roland will be memorialized at a wake at Krauss Funeral Home in Franklin Square, NY on Sunday, February 25th and a Mass of Christian burial at St. Boniface Church in Elmont, NY on Monday, February 26th at 9:30am. His life of service will be celebrated with burial of full military honors at Calverton National Cemetery in Riverhead, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Roland’s name to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School Scholarship fund, the Three Little Flowers Center, Inc. and the Matenwa, School in Haiti or a charity of your choice supporting children.
