Obituary of Werner Gerland

Gerland, Werner on September  28, 2017 at age  82. Resident of New Hyde Park  and Wolf Lake for over 40 years. Proprietor of Werner’s Delicatessen in Mineola: “ The best for your belly , comes from Werner’s Deli”!  Longtime member of the Board of Directors “Sergeant at Arms” of the Plattduetsche Home  Society. Member of the Plattduetsche Skat Club,and Food Committee Assistant Chairman for the Plattduetsche Park Restaurant. Also belonged to Nordduetschen Bruder, Brooklyn Schuetzen Corps and Bederkesa Club. Beloved husband  of the late Elfriede  for 54 years. Devoted father of Roger (Irene). Loving Brother of Helmut (Gabriella , Margaret (Harold), Heidi (Lothar), Karl-Heinz (Roswitha), Gisella (Alfred) and the Late Wilhelm (Edith). Adored Opa of Jennifer and Stephanie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing at Krauss Funeral Home 1097 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square Visiting Hours:  Sunday 2-5 & 7-9 pm. Church Service at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in  Mineola on Monday at 10 am. Interment: Locust Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Plattduetsche Home Society, Our Saviour Lutheran Church or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society , 3 Huntington Quadrangle Suite 202S, Huntington NY 11747 ,  would be appreciated.
