Obituary of Charlotte M. Orlando

ORLANDO - Charlotte, (nee Frame), 93, of Elmont NY, on March 19, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Joseph S. Orlando. Loving mother of Susan and Rudy Adaikalasamy, Jean and Steven Mason, Thomas and Deborah Orlando, Jayne and Ronan Moore, and Christine Orlando and William Brakeley. Cherished Nana of Joseph and Carina Lasek, Matthew and Katelyn Lasek, Daniel and Christelle Lasek, Elizabeth Lasek, Steven and Eva Mason, Corinne and Michael O’Malley, Emilie Mason, Thomas Orlando, Joseph and Jennifer Orlando, Nicholas and Sonia Orlando, Melanie Orlando, Elias and Alice Moore, Rosalea Moore, Maeve Moore, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Devoted daughter of the late John and Mary Frame. Dear sister of the late Edna Altmayer and Florence Connelly. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Charlotte was born in Harding Park, Bronx NY. She graduated from James Monroe High School in 1942 and married the love of her life, Joe, in 1950. They relocated to Elmont in 1957, where they raised their family as active and respected members of the St. Vincent de Paul parish. Charlotte was a member of the Columbiettes, the Altar Rosary Society, taught CCD, and was an Extraordinary Minister. She belonged to the Girl Scouts of America for more than 50 years, and was the recipient of The St. Anne Medal for her contribution in this field of youth ministry. In 2008, she received The Women of Distinction Award. Charlotte shared her love of crocheting and crafting with her many friends at the St. Vincent de Paul Craft Club. She was known for her kindness, outgoing nature, and indomitable spirit. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
