Fred and I were so sorry to hear about Mary's passing. We were neighbors for 28 years. We became good friends during that time.
I remember fondly going to Mary's house for tea and some Stella D'oro cookies, and sitting outside in the summer, talking and laughing.
I could also count on Mary if I needed to talk over something. She was always there for me.
It's been 18 years since we moved but we still talked frequently and updated each other on our families. I will miss her and our conversations but I know that she will live on through her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Our deepest sympathy to Danny, Diana, and Antoinette, and their families.
Love, Eileen Brown

I am so incredibly saddened by the loss of our dear Mary. Mary was family to the Kiefers --there for us through our marriages, births of our children and the passing of our beloved parents. Every year she and Dan would drop off Christmas gifts on our front steps for our children....my kids thought of her as another grandmother.
Mary only recently shared her memory of my grandparents in Elmont as she would pass the Kiefer farm house on her way to school.....so the history of our families go way, way back.
She would still call me at work if she didn't hear from me . "Hello, Alfred, its Mary just checking in on you" would be the voicemail she would leave. When I would call back she would ask about every single member of the family with a precise recollection of the last update I had given her---what an incredible memory.....
She made us laugh with her humor and her Italian phrases and expressions are used regularly within our family.
Mary, give a hug to my mom. I am sure she has the tea kettle on and is waiting for you. Bring the "S" cookies.....it will be like old times.
Please take comfort in the fact that she had a wonderful life and a loving family whom she adored.
With a hug to Dan, Diana, Antoinette and her beloved sons in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Love, Alfred ( one of the very few people who still called me that!)
