Dear Fred,
you called me for the last time in April 2023 after returning from rehabilitation.
I tried several times to get you on the phone – unfortunately in vain. So my suspicion was, that something serious must have happened to you.
You had always kept contact with your relatives on the german side of your origines. My mother Luise Zehend was the sister of uncle Albert, your father.
You always took great interest in my two brothers and our families.
Last week, our grandcousin Andrea Zehend found out, that you have gone on
August 30, 2023 already. This news made me very sad!
I will always remember you as a person deeply founded in his cristian faith, source of the kindness with which you used to treat everyone you met.
I am convinced that, when your body was too exhausted to continue, GOD, whom you felt strongly connected with during all your lifetime, took your precious soul close to him.
In this conviction, I send this farewell to you, my dear cousin Fred.

Hi Fred. My English is so bad, maybe I will write in German.

I am so saddened to hear about the loss of Fred. I knew him from church on Saturday nights. Told me he was having the last operation and then he came back months later and never saw him again. I know he is with all the Angels such a pleasant person. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Fred was not just my cousin but also my godfather. He’s always been around since I was growing up and even seeing my kids grow up as well. He’s been such an influence in my lifetime and I know he’s touched many others lives. Some of the memories we created were my earliest and fondest memories to this day. He’s shown me so much and helped create my love for old movies since we would often watch them with him. Fred was so devoted to his faith it was infectious and spread into my family. Thank you to Barbara, Kelly, Celine and Mariah as well as all of you who came. Fred you will be missed forever and I hope you know how much we love you.

I will really miss you. I just got to reconnect with you after many years. When I left New Jersey and went into the Air Force I never went back to New Jersey unless it was for a short visit or funeral. I was really bad at keeping in touch with anyone. However I did enjoy the times you and your mom would come to visit. I also enjoyed the time I visited your parents house and stayed a couple of days. The last year and a half were great when I reconnected with you. You always had wonderful memories about our family. I know you are in a better place and will eventually see you again.

For My Dearest Cousin,
There are so many fond memories from the time I was a child to my adult hood. You were their for my children, Michael, Nichole, and Robert growing up. . You would come to NJ with Aunt Grace and visit with your Aunt Alice and us. We were tight knitted and closer than most cousins. You always had a smart quick wit remark and a great sense of humor. I can remember when your Mom and your Aunt Alice were remarking on something you did and your response would be Shady Pines. Shady Pines is a rest home from Golden Girls show.
You always had a story from when you were growing up with Mom and United Airline's work family. Everyone who came across your path loved you. Your warmth and caring came through right down to the people you served at the airlines. I can remember around Christmas time when you had gifts sent to you even from other countries.
We shared the same love for animals. I will be eternally grateful for taking Amber when I couldn't take her with me. I knew she was going to be treated like a princess and you loved her as much as I did.
The legacy you left behind touched more people than I can fathom and probably more than you realized.
Love With All My Heart, Kelly

My earliest memories of you are the days my parents used to take me along with them to your parents house in Richmond Hill. Where you love to paint portraits. I was amazed how good a painter you were. I'll miss you cousin till we meet again
