Please share a memory of Constance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Constance Genovese, born 4 October 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away in St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, New York on Wednesday 31 May 2023. Her family who loved her deeply were at her bedside. Constance turned 90 last October surrounded by dear friends and her large family who all came together to celebrate her extraordinary passion for life and the tender caregiving she extended to all – Constance was a true blessing. She will be remembered as a mother who always provided a guiding hand, dedicated wife and dotting grandmother who left her mark on the world with the unbridled love, affection, and happiness she gave to everyone she knew. Constance (aka Connie, Mother, Mom, Me Maw, Constance Concetta, Constance T, Mrs. G) was a beloved member of her neighborhood for more than 50 years and the matriarch of a close-knit extended family. Constance was the youngest child of Carmine and Theresa Prisco and sister to the late Marie Etro and the late Joseph Prisco. Connie was a devoted wife to Thomas Francis (Tommy) for over 66 years. Together they created a family of three children, a home whose doors were always open to welcome her entire family, friends, and all who sought her compassionate nature and wisdom. She led by example and gently instilled the values of being kind, helping others, working to achieve your goals and respect for others into her children. Upon getting married at the Shrine Church of St. Bernadette in Brooklyn, New York, building a new home on Long Island and starting a family Connie promptly became involved in the community ranging from PTA/den mother, school volunteer, offering her many talents to various local groups, to an avid gardener, treasurer of the Garden Club of Dix Hills (orchids were one of her favorite flowers) and a skilled business entrepreneur in the jewelry industry. Constance was a loving and quiet woman who enjoyed playing classical music from a very young age, however, was transfixed on Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra in her later years. Her patience, caring manner and loving heart was unmistakable and stretched to not only her family but to all that were privileged to know her. Her legendary cooking skills and love and joy of gathering friends and family around the table, especially for holiday meals, was the most memorable of her lifetime. She was very much appreciated by all, will be deeply missed, and her example and memory will live on in the countless lives she touched - her family is grateful for her presence in their lives. Constance is survived by her husband Thomas Francis, her children - Elizabeth, Theresa and Leo, and her grandson Gavin. There will be a Funeral Mass held 10:30 AM Saturday, 10 June 2023, at St. Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church, Franklin Square, NY 11010.
