I first met Sal at the 2019 Omphafest at Plattduetsche Park. He was wearing his Brooklyn Schutzen Corps uniform. I told him my Grandfather was a member of his club. He said “well why aren’t you?”. I replied “that’s a a dam good question”. We continued to talk about his club and the stuff they liked to do. I ended up joining the BSC, one of the best moves I’ve ever made. Though it was brief, thanks Sal for your friendship and good advice. RIP Brother.

Sal,
It’s hard to try to formulate these words together to make sense.
There are so many beautiful memories I have of you being my boss and more authentically, my friend. Your sense of humor, generosity and kindness is one of a kind.
I will look up, smile and whisper your name from time to time as I eat ice cream
In Franklin Square, as I curse you while I’m looking for parking on Austin or simply just remember that devilish Sal look with the flexing eyebrows, grin and corner of your eyes look. I’m smiling with tears as I write this, and that’s how I’ll continue sharing good memories with you and of you as I continue on my own life journey.
