Obituary of Frank Montalbano

Frank Nathan Montalbano, of Franklin Square, NY passed away peacefully on July 10th, 2021 at the age of 101 years old. He lived a full life and will be missed by all who knew him. Frank was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 18th, 1920. He worked as an automobile and truck mechanic employed for many years at Benson Chevrolet in Brooklyn and Nassau County Department of Public Works. He enjoyed playing golf. Frank was a Staff Sargent in the US Army, American 8th Air Force, and a four year veteran of World War II working as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic at Thurleigh Air Base in England. He was honorably discharged in September of 1945. It was during this assignment in England that Frank met the lovely Joan Hooley from St. Albans, England, at a dance. Frank and Joan fell in love and got married April 7th, 1945 in St. Albans and they moved to Brooklyn after the war to start their life together and raise a family. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Joan, of 77 years. He is lovingly remembered by their children Elissa Kolackovsky, Joanne Tamberelli, and Frank Montalbano along with their spouses and 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Krauss Funeral Home, Franklin Square, NY, on July 15th, 2021 from 9am to 9:30am. Religious Service will be offered from Christ Episcopal Church, Garden City, NY, on July 15th, 2021 from 10am-10:45am. The Funeral Service and Interment will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, NY, on July 15th, 2021 from 12pm-12:30 pm.
