Obituary of Leonardo Caputo

Leonardo Caputo, 48, of Elmont New York passed away suddenly on July 1st ,2021. Visiting will be held at Krauss Funeral Home, 1097 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, New York on Monday, July 5th from 4 to 8pm. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at St. Catherine of Sienna Church, Franklin Square, at 9:30am. Interment will follow St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale New York. Born in Bari, Italy Leonardo lived in New York for 48 years. He was a devoted husband and father. Leonardo was the beloved husband of Anna Marie Caputo; son of Dominico Caputo and the late Irene Servido; loving father of Domenico Caputo, Antonio Caputo, and Paul Caputo. Dear brother of Giuseppe Caputo and his wife Rosetta Caputo, Irene Powell, and Nella Giancaspro and her husband Rocco. Son-in-law to Luigi Petrillo and the late Mariannina Petrillo; brother-in law of Domenica Minnuto and her husband Vincenzo Minnuto, Angela Monica, and her husband Generoso Monica. Giovanni Petrillo and his wife Anna Marie Petrillo, and the late Paolo Petrillo. Also, survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Leonardo served proudly as a New York City Police officer for 20 years in the 13th precinct, and mid-town South Anti-Crime-Unit. Once retired he became a self-made entrepreneur by starting his own pesticide company, with his sons. He was an adamant member for Brothers before Others; and President of the Sewanhaka Athletic Booster Club. Leonardo dedicated his life to his family and community. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. The family will be accepting flowers or donations to St. Jude and The American Heart Association.
