Obituary – John Paul Barnes, Jr. John Paul Barnes, Jr., age 76, of Elmont, New York, passed away on June 10, 2021 in Queens Hospital, Queens, New York. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2021 at Krauss Funeral Home, 1097 Hempstead Tpk., Franklin Square, New York. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, New York. John was born in Long Beach, California to John and Margaret Barnes on August 11, 1944. He grew up in Elmont, New York and was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Elmont, New York. He attended and graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, New York. John worked in Manhattan for many years as a printer. He was a veteran and served in the United States Army from November 1966 to November 1968. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Cameron Smirk Barnes (1989) and John Paul Barnes, Sr. 2002. John is survived by his brother Richard Barnes of Elmont, New York, sister Susan Barnes of Dallas, Texas and sister Barbara Barnes Baylis of Spring, Texas. In addition, he is survived by three nephews, four grand nephews, two grandnieces and one great grandniece of Texas. Flowers may be received at Krauss Funeral Home. The Barnes family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nursing staff at St. Albans Veterans Home, St. Albans, New York where John resided the past two and half years.
