Obituary of Josephine Torre

Josephine Cuneo Torre 1926-2020 Josephine Cuneo Torre passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, December 2, accompanied by a flock of doves. The second child of Francesco and Angela Cuneo, Josephine was born in New York City in 1926. Shortly after, she and her family moved to Calvari, Italy where she grew up. On June 30, 1946 she married Bruno Torre. Together they returned to New York and they spent 45 years of marriage in their Elmont home until his passing in January of 1991. Josephine was generous and nurturing. Her door was always open to family and friends. She loved to cook and share her delicious dishes with those seated around her large kitchen table. It was not unusual for guests to stop by just in time for dinner. Her other passion was flowers. She took great pride in having the most beautiful gardens in the neighborhood. You could always find Josephine playing in the dirt and tending to her flowers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Rosa Zavatteri, and by her first grandson, Bruno Tagliaferri. Josephine is survived by her sister, Elizebeth Queirolo; brother Peter Cuneo; daughter Rosalba and husband Whip O’Boyle; daughter Silvana and husband Thomas Tagliaferri; son Frederick and wife Rose Torre; granddaughters Patricia Walter and Simone Torre; great-grandchildren Silvana and Rocco Walter, and Eliza Tagliaferri; and many nieces and nephews.
