1941-2016 Herbert W. Luhrs Herbert W. Luhrs peacefully and unexpectedly passed into Glory Friday September 16, 2016. Beloved Son of August & Meta Luhrs, Brother to August W. Luhrs and the late Marianna (Mitzi) Neuf . Herbert served in the Army for four years.(1964-68) He was a long time employee of “Newsday”, Long Island’s local newspaper. He was a driver instructor with the company before he retired. Herbert lived most of his adult life in Franklin Square, NY. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, back yard barbeques and was a wonderful uncle, brother, son, and friend to all who knew him. He was a kind and generous man with a strong faith in God. “Herb” as he was affectionately known was a humble servant who was always willing to lend a hand or help someone who was in need. Although he never married and had a family of his own he will be missed dearly by his brother, August W. Luhrs and wife Christa along with many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. God bless us all until we meet again.
