Obituary of Julian Binetti

Julian Binetti ‘Giulio’ March 24, 1920 – January 4, 2024 Julian Binetti, ‘Giulio’, was born to Italian immigrants in Brooklyn, NY on March 24, 1920. He served as a Navy 1st Class Gunners’ Mate on an LST during the WWII Normandy invasion. On January 8, 1949 he married the love of his life, Lucy Turro. He will be joined with Lucy on what would have been their 74th Wedding Anniversary, Monday, January 8, 2024. Around 1950 Julian & Lucy purchased their first home in Laurelton, Queens, NY and raised three children. In 1992 their youngest son, Donald, tragically died. Julian expeienced several hardships in his long life of 103 years, however, his determination to press on never relinquished. His motto “Never give up”. Julian was self employed as a furniture finisher. His business was Artistic Custom Finishing located in Queens Village, NY. Upon his retirement in the 1980’s he & Lucy enjoyed occasional weekends in New York City, trips to Cape May, NJ, went on a few cruises, and mostly just enjoyed each others company. Julian never really ‘retired’ because much of his ‘retirement’ time he spent working on his precious home in Malverne, NY keeping up with maintenance, repair projects, and improvements. He took great pride in his home. Julian widowed after 66 years of marriage. Julian continued to live in his Malverne home with the care, love and support of his daughter, Carol, and love & suport of friends and neighbors. He will be missed but his memory will remain in the hearts of many.
